THE SAHARA DESERT, MOROCCO

The Atta Camp

The Aït Atta tribe used to travel throughout the Atlas region and south of Morocco. Nowadays, they live in the region of Atta Camp, in the middle of the Moroccan part of the Sahara…
Near the very small village of Remlia in the heart of the dunes surrounded by natural wonders, Atta camp offers the privilege to be part of this huge desert, to discover fossils, and to meet nomads who live there.
In the middle of this landscape, the silence is astonishing…and yet, one feels so well in the immensity of the Sahara…
The place is fascinating, allowing your mind to escape from life’s daily issues and to wander…
After a few minutes in this little part of the Sahara, you will begin to relax and appreciate and enjoy your time
In the night, like local nomads, you will sleep in a traditional but very comfortable tent… In the day, you will discover this place by walking, or using dromedaries and special cars…
In this magical place, one can easily relax and let loose.

SUPPORT OF THE HYDRAULIC PROJECT WITHOUT BORDER IN MOROCCO

Partner with the "Hydraulique sans frontière" association

It is a non profit association that helps to ameliorate the water access in isolated zones.
In Morocco, more precisely in Ourika (regroups 30 000 habitants) a couples project already started. Everything started may 2010 and other projects started or will start in the Moroccan sahara. Origins care about this association because we want to dynamize the Moroccan Sahara. Atta camp is located near Remlia, a couple hours from Ouarzazate

A few hours from Ouarzazate in South-East of Morocco, Atta Camp is located close to the small village of Remlia, located in the south-east of Merzouga.

How to access it

It is possible to access the camp on your own if you have an SUV and a GPS system. In this case, we will provide you with the camp’s GPS location.

Customers'review :

Marc and Laurence - April 2010

“Atta camp is a magical place…I hadn’t scheduled asking her to marry me, but the Sahara’s soil, music played by nomads and this wonderful sunset behind the dunes helped me take the step…and she said yes without hesitating!

Afterwards, the team has been awesome with us: they prepared a local ceremony for this type of event…Thank you to everyone, and especially to Salem for his special couscous!!!”
